Meeting His Buddies

While the power was out at our house for six days we stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's house. We even brought Duncan! He got to meet Snuffy and Duffy (their cats) for the first time. Duffy didn't mind too much about Duncan, but Snuffy would start growling and would take a swipe every now and then. Duncan would also start to growl when he saw Snuffy and would take a swipe. I think Duncan was glad to get home after six days. Tomorrow Duncan is going back to Grandma and Grandpa's house till Sunday while we go to Vermont for another Christmas!

Nutcracker

This post isn't about Duncan at all it's about Nutcracker because Nutcracker is ending this week.

We had our first show yesterday in Berwick, Maine. I wouldn't say the show went overly well but it was fun.

During the first show, Thorin , the nutcracker prince, went on stage in his socks.

During the second show during Snowflakes the music started skipping so they just closed the curtains and didn't bring out the gundalow. Mommy said that the Snowflakes did a good job of keeping dancing when the music was skipping. One of the snowflakes said that when the music was skipping they could've started singing. Another one of the snowflakes looked like she was about to cry because it was the only show that she was in that they were taping.
- The really bad thing was they were making a DVD of the second show when the music started skipping.

Sketi Stealer

On Sunday after I came back from Wentworth by the Sea Alex, mom and I had pasta and salad for supper. First Duncan got up on the table and stole a piece of lettuce out of Alex's salad bowl. Then he went and sat on my lap and while I had spaghetti hanging out of my mouth he tried to eat some. That's why we call him Sketi Stealer.


A few days ago Duncan had diarrhea and got a bunch of it stuck in his fur so he wiped his butt on the kitchen floor, bathroom floor, bathroom rug and playroom rug. It stunk up the house. Luckily I was at school and the smell was gone before I got home. Mom had to cut some of his diarrehay fur.

Fur Hat

Duncan likes to sleep on our beds at night. Usually he either sleeps with me or my mom, and he likes to sleep right up by our face. One night, my mom was really hot during the night. Duncan was sleeping on her pillow stretched out across the top of her head like a big, live fur hat. She realized that she was so hot because Duncan was acting like a winter hat making her really hot!

The other day he just about pushed my mom off of her pillow because he was taking up so much room stretched out next to her. He also likes to attack my dad's head early in the morning. Often he sleeps stretched out between my mom and dad, but when he's done sleeping he thinks it is fun to jump at my dad's head. I don't think my dad thinks it's too funny.

Paint

On Sunday and Monday mom was painting her bedroom window sills to get ready for when she paints her bedroom. She was on the other side of the room and Duncan was also in her room when I heard mom yelling " I need help" so I ran into her room and she was holding Duncan. Duncan just jumped on the wet window sill and my mom wanted to wash the paint off his feet before it dried. If that wasn't enough, on Monday while I was at school Duncan got onto my mom's wet window sill again and this time ran all around the house with wet paint on his feet. Luckily it didn't leave a mark. (Actually, he left footprints everywhere, but I washed them! Mom)

A little Splash

On Friday my dad had to go to the bathroom. So since duncan was in the bathroom already he just closed the door and let Duncan stay in the bathroom. My dad opened the toilet seat and was getting ready to go to the bathroom when he heard a little splash and Duncan was in the toilet bowl. My dad took Duncan out of the toilet before he could take a picture so we don't have any pictures.

Red Sox

So this year won't be a repeat of last year. The Red Sox lost game 5 of the ALCS. So they do not advance to the world series. There goes defending there World Series Title. Oh well there's always next year.

Ok enough about the Red Sox and back to Duncan, nothing entirely interesting has happened in the next few days other than he has another vet appointment tommorrow ( no one in my family can remember why)

Something weird did actually happen to me. Today in science my teacher had a full cow leg and part of the hip. There was still muscle tissue and some red stuff (not sure if it was blood or not) it was pretty cool. My class named the leg Mario. Me, my teacher and a few other students carried the leg in a box with the flaps open around the hallway so we could gross people out and so we could give it to another teacher. So the teacher could use the bones for her dog. I wanted the cow's Patella (knee cap) so I could gross Alex out. But my teacher says a kid bringing home any pices of meat is trouble waiting to happen.

Sleep Over

Yesterday I went to a girl scout sleepover at one of the girl scout's houses. And when I got home mommy asked if I knew who missed me and I said Duncan and she said I was right. She said that in the morning Duncan was outside her door screaming to come in and be petted. He missed being able to go into my room and snuggling on my bed. I really missed Duncan to because when I got home I gaves Duncan three big hugs!

Red Sox Update: 10-15-08 Red Sox beat Tampa Bay 7-8. Got the biggest postseason comeback for a team in the verge of elimination since 1929. Were losing 7-0 when I went to bed at 11:00 in the 7th inning. Right after I went to bed they started rallying 8 runs. It was so weird because in 2004 when they won the World Series for the first time in 86 years. They were in the verge of being eliminated and they won so the saying is " 3-1 been there, won that". And they were 3-1 on Thursday and they won!!!!!!!!

Waking People Up

This morning I woke up and looked everywhere for Duncan I just didn't know where he could be. The bathroom door was open (where he sleeps) but he wasn't anywhere. Sure enough as I was eatting breakfast my mom came down stairs half asleep holding Duncan saying that at about 4:00 or 5:00am my dad ( who was coming home from work) opened the bathroom door to check on Duncan's food supply and Duncan took off running to my mom and dad's room and woke my mom up. Duncan was biting my mom's nose and sleeping on her head and would not leave her alone. So after he came in she did not get much sleep.

Duncan's New Trick

Today Duncan learned some new tricks!! One of his tricks is climbing the curtains (which any other cat can do). His other trick is is climbing the curtains and reaching the top then not knowing how to get back down.

The Vet

Today Duncan had a trip to the vet to get some shots. He also had ear mites. The appointment apparently took awhile; I wasn't there but that's what my mom told me.

This morning Duncan was climbing the kitchen curtains. He climbs pretty far up before he jumps down. He also ate some of my strawberry yogurt yesterday.

He can become quite annoying when you are reading a book, and eating cookies because he tried to knock my cookies off the table and tried to knock my book off the table.

Sleeping

Duncan has been sleeping with me and Alex lately. A few days this week Duncan has slept with me till midnight or so when mommy takes him away so she can go to bed. Last Friday we were watching a movie that the adoption center gave us. I slept through 95 percent of the movie and almost squished Duncan twice. After I got up Alex and Duncan fell asleep on mommy. Yesterday Alex slept in the hallway so Duncan could sleep with him. But in the middle of the night he went back to his bed because Duncan was gone.

Weird stuff

Duncan's new thing is jumping on the table. He has done it so many times that we are trying to ignore him when he does it.

He also likes people food better then kitten food. He has drank out of my milk cup twice, licked the syrup off my plate once, licked the cake crumbs from under my dad's chair, ate taco sauce off of Alex's plate, eaten cracker crumbs off of Alex's plate, and kinda likes cheese. My mom put some cheese in with his food and he ate most of the cheese.

1 week anniversary of us getting Duncan

So far Duncan has learned to jump on the table and has done it 4 consecutive times this morning. Two of the times he licked my plate that had syrup on it.

He has explored most of our house and likes to squeak. His offical name is Duncan Squeaky Ireland.

Yesterday he had diareha and got some stuck in his fur and we had to wipe his bottom because he didn't clean it very well.

He has very sharp claws. They got sharper in the week we had him. Today is the one week anniversary of us getting Duncan and it seems like we have had him so much longer then one week.

On thursday I was trying to do homework- I had a math textbook and a paper spread out on the living room floor. And Duncan was wrinkling my homework.

Addition to our family!!

Today we went to the Humane Society to pick out a kitten for a family pet. There were a lot more grown up cats then there were kittens. There were a litter of kittens that were born July 2nd. There was a very playful black girl kitty, a playful black boy kitty, a very white kitty, and a gray kitty with white feet. The mommy was in the cage also. It didn't take long to pick out a kitty we asked to hold the little gray kitty so the ladie that worked there took it out of the cage and mommy got to hold it and we got to put the kitten on the ground and see how he was. We liked him a lot the gray kitty had a little more fur then mommy intisapated but oh well. Then we asked to hold the playful black boy kitty. The playful black boy kitty was a lot fluffier then the gray kitty and we liked the gray kitty more, SO WE ADOPTED HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mommy filled out the adoption forms and we got a bag of papers and some cat food and a collar. We got a little box with air holes and the little gray kitten inside.


WHEN WE GOT HOME:

On the way home the kitten meowed and meowed and meowed. Mommy tried to open the box so much that she could pet the kitten but the kitten stuck his face through the handels of the box. We finally got home and brought the kitten and his box into the play room. When we opened the box the kitten just stayed in the box but mommy took him out he wandered around the playroom and smelled everything. He found this lego toy that he likes to bat around. We put a bowl of water and some food in the playroom to see if he would eat it. He stuck both paws in the water bowl, drank some water, the shook the water all over mommy. The kitty kies to climb all over your shoulders when you pick him up. We invited grandma and gramdpa over right away to see our new kitten.
When grandma and grandpa left we played a bit more with the kitty which Alex wants to call Duncan then made him a bed in the bathtub. Duncan likes to puur especially when you rub him!
We got him some of the balls that he played with at the Humane Society he seems to like them.
It is soooooo easy to sit there forever and just pet Duncan he is so cute, fluffy, and puury.
